Purpose:

The purpose of the Emergency Preparedness and Communications Board is to keep Doylestown Borough Council informed of the level of emergency preparedness in the Borough, of communications pertaining to the same, and to develop, recommend, and execute strategies to educate, prepare, and raise the preparedness level of residents and businesses in the Borough.

The Board shall work to educate residents and business owners of the Borough on emergency and disaster preparedness, both before, during, and after the event. It shall also collaborate with the Borough Manager and Emergency Manager to enhance public communications before, during, and after emergencies and disasters, utilizing currently available and future tools.

The Board shall investigate the creation of a volunteer registry of residents and businesses that can be trained and mobilized to respond to emergencies and disasters in the Borough. This volunteer cadre shall be active in community events, educating residents, businesses, and visitors on preparedness, maintaining caches of supplies and equipment, and staffing evacuation or emergency cooling/heating centers as directed by the Emergency Manager.
