Doylestown Borough 2021 Budget

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH 2021 BUDGET

When Doylestown Borough Council committed to the $11 million Broad Street Gateway Park, Central Bucks Regional Police Headquarters, and Borough Hall project, including $5 million in new borrowing, no one could have foreseen the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and its effect on the Borough’s finances and the local economy. Over $500,000 in revenue was lost to the pandemic in 2020 which, due to the need to maintain and even increase services, could only be partially offset by spending cuts. The result is a projected $516,714 operating deficit and the anticipation of reduced revenues in 2021 from the Borough’s primary revenue sources, including the Earned Income Tax, Local Services Tax, and Real Estate Transfer Tax.
