Doylestown Borough Revitalization Board 2008 Goals

DESIGN COMMITTEE
1. Discuss full implementation of the Cultural Link Plan
2. Continue to discuss expansion the Historic District in cooperation with Borough Council
3. Act in an advisory capacity to Borough Council with regard to the Justice Center and Parking Garage Project, and the expansion of the Michener and Mercer Museums
4. Work with adjacent municipalities, including Doylestown Township, on design issues related to gateways linking our communities
5. Work with Economic Development Committee on design issues relative to the Elm Street Program

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
1. Serve as editorial liaison to The Borough Bulletin
2. Conduct town meetings on topics of vital interest
3. Continue to strengthen community connections with the C.B. School District and, if possible, Del Val College
4. Update as needed Restaurant Guide, Getting to Doylestown, and the Parking Brochure
5. Continue to work on a Walking Tour brochure
6. Work with Borough Council on improving the website and keeping it updated.


ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
1. Assist the downtown/business establishments in their marketing and promotional efforts, to the extent possible under the scope of our mission.
2. Continue to monitor success and/or problems of parking regulations, analysis of tickets. issued throughout the Borough, and explore additional resident parking initiatives.
3. Develop, implement, and oversee Elm Street Program.
4. Continue to work with area organizations and associations (DBCA, Chamber, BCCBV, Mercer/Michener/Historical Society, etc.) to promote Doylestown as a destination to visit, shop and dine in, and stay.
5. Monitor and evaluate impact of new Courthouse and parking garage designs, locations, etc. as they will impact on the economic viability of the downtown, i.e., temporary loss of parking, traffic pattern changes, construction impediments, etc.
6. Work towards making and maintaining the Transportation Center a viable part of the downtown Doylestown.
ambiance and amenities, for residents and visitors, especially as it relates to passenger services, including tax and bus service, food, commuter parking ticket sales and area information.
7. Continue to monitor success and/or problems of pedestrian safety initiative
8. Provide support and input to the “Community for All Ages” program and the Mayor’s Senior Task Force, and continue to be proactive to ensure that our younger and older generations feel part of the community.
9. Explore making First Friday compatible with the goals of its participants, as well as those of the Borough, especially as they relate to safety issues, including pedestrian, and vehicle safety during each event
10. Develop activity/activities to promote “Getting to Know Your Neighbor,” including the reinstitution of Old Home Week.
