Accomplishments
COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE
- Developed a brochure to explain and promote guidelines for
walkers, bikers, and drivers as part of the Doylestown Borough
Safe Walking Initiative.
- Developed a five screen slide promotion of Historic Doylestown
Borough for use at the County Theater prior to the feature film.
- Developed key messages to promote respect for people and property
in the Borough.
- Developed a “Getting to Doylestown and Getting Around”
flyer to answer visitor inquiries regarding public transportation.
- Created the “Doylestown – Your Ultimate Destination”
poster to increase awareness of all that our community has to
offer.
- Revised a restaurant guide flyer available to jurors in the
courthouse, as well as the pamphlet for residents concerning public
parking facilities and programs.
- Currently serve as writers and editorial liaison for The Borough
Bulletin.
- Sponsor town meetings to disseminate information and provide
a forum to discuss topics that impact the community.
DESIGN
- Initiated the installation of historic Victorian style streetlights.
- Originated alley and gateway improvement projects.
- Conducted rounds of Design Challenge Grants awarded to building
owners in the central business district to assist with façade
improvements.
- Helped guide the design of the Cultural District Master Plan.
- Worked toward expansion of the Historic District, so that those
areas in the nationally registered historic district were incorporated
into those administered by the Doylestown Historical and Architectural
Review Board.
- Monitor progress of the Proposed Justice Center.
- Currently working on a Pedestrian-Transit Linkage Project.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
- After repeated discussions, study, and analysis of data from
a parking survey created, conducted, and tabulated by committee
members, made recommendations to Borough Council regarding parking
changes (handicap, 15 minute free parking, 3-hour and 10-hour
parking).
- Implemented initiatives conducive to a pedestrian friendly
environment.
- Monitor the viability of the Transportation Center (SEPTA Station).
- Continue to be sensitive and support the needs of all, especially
teens and older Americans:
- Support the YMCA Teen Center, Forty Assets, and the Community
Dining Program
- Initiated action to get the Doylestown Post Office to mechanize
its doors, in addition to improving parking lot signage and
pavement markings.
- Convinced the County Commissioners to budget for mechanization
of library doors.
- Initiated action for the borough to obtain a grant to provide
an assistive access device for the Fanny Chapman Pool.
- Coordinated with the Park and Recreation Commission to
begin Senior Walks in the Park.
- Helped facilitate the transition to new meters for parking.
- Continue to promote Doylestown as a destination to visit, shop,
dine, and stay.
