West Nile prevention
The Bucks County Department of Health West Nile Virus Program is currently monitoring mosquito traps in all townships and boroughs. These traps hang from trees and are also ground based looking like a tool box sitting over a basin of water. These traps may be set in parks, on private property (with permission) or on County owned property. Each trap is labeled with a Bucks County Health Department identification card. Please do not handle the traps as it may interfere with the ability to monitor mosquitoes for West Nile.
Bucks has had some mosquitoes test positive for West Nile already this year, so please act now to protect yourself, your family and your neighbors from this disease!
Check your property and eliminate any standing water that might provide a mosquito larva nursery. Check areas such as gutters, outdoor plant saucers and birdbaths, etc. Natural larvaecide dunks can be used to treat birdbaths and keep them larva free.
If you have questions, want help in checking your property for areas that might be attracting mosquitoes, want some sample dunks, or want to report standing water please call or use the big green button on our web site that says “I want to..” and select “Report a Problem or Concern”
