NEWS > SNOW HAULING CONTINUES
Snow Hauling Continues
The Public Works crews continue to haul snow from the narrow and busy streets in the central part of town and are working their way outward. The projected warmer weather is helping soften the ice mounds and the crews are using backhoes to break up the glacier-like piles. To date Doylestown has had 67"+ of snow this winter making it the 3rd worse winter in our recorded history. From February 3rd to yesterday we received more than 30" of snow, and only a few days above freezing. This complete lack of melting meant that the roads became very narrow and potentially impeded emergency vehicles, parking and pedestrians. Consequently we commenced hauling snow out of town with construction equipment last week even while two new snow storms pummeled the town. The Public works team worked the entire 3-day Presidents day holiday weekend and continues to haul show this week.
Wendsday we are hauling snow from Church Street between Mechanic and Court and State-Ashland. We will also be clearing the Pine Street, Kenny's and Municipal public parking lots.
Thursday beginning at 6am we will be hauling snow from West State Street between Clinton and West, and also the Plaza East parking lot.
Friday beginning at 6am we will be hauling East State Street between Broad and Maple, and the western end of Maple Ave.
Please note that during snow hauling operations parking is restricted and the roads are subject to closure. Police officers will be present to assist with traffic control. Please be alert and cautious if driving in these areas.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation while we recover from a challenging winter. Spring is only a month away!
